Christmas Lights

Morning and welcome to my shared post for IndigoBlu.

I found inspiration from the selection of Christmas lights that adorn trees and houses at this time of year.

Using IndigoBlu 'Shine Bright' stamp set I stamped both sizes of light bulbs onto Shrink Plastic with a permanent blank ink pad.

Using my Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils I coloured these bulbs red, orange and blue.

After cutting them out a hole was punched in the top of the bulb.

I then shrunk these using my heat gun. You may also notice the colour intensifies when they are shrunk. I then threaded these onto a length of red string.

The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the 'Christmas Wreath' stamp set which I stamped in red. The bulbs were then adhered to the 150mm x 150mm white card blank.

Please take a look at the teams fabulous projects following the links over on the IndigoBlu Blog.

Don't forget tune into Hochanda later today to see IndigoBlu's Big Save Shows at 4pm and 7pm with the fabulous Kay Halliwell-Sutton.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and I hope Santa brings you lots of crafty goodies.

Mindfulness Words

Morning and welcome to my shared post for IndigoBlu,

Created this card using the Believe stencil, the Mindfulness A5 stamp set and a new face stencil that I was lucky enough to receive at the IndigoBlu Retreat. This will be released in the New Year so please keep a look out for this as they are stunning!

Firstly I used the Believe stencil with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide onto a piece of mixed media card.

Then I added the other Oxides (Twisted Citron and Wild Honey) one by one onto my glass mat and after adding a spritz of water dabbed the card into this. I trimmed this into a square to fit a 6" square card blank.

Another way of doing this is to dab the oxide onto a piece of acetate, spritz and then placed onto the card. This is better if you want to control when the colours are placed.

I placed the Believe stencil over the card and using a black pen outlined 3 of the words and let them smudge slightly. Using the face stencil I drew the outline with a pencil and then painted over with Black Gesso. I watered down the Gesso to create shading under the chin and also the hair.

Using the Mindfulness stamp set I picked out several words and stamped in Black Versafine and cut these out.

Two of the words were mat and layered onto black card before being added.

To add the finishing touches the words were added between the stenciled words. I drew a border freehand in black before added this to a black card blank.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more inspiration using IndigoBlu products with you soon.

Plus don't forget to keep a look out for the new face stencils in the New Year!!

Dreams Come True

Hello and welcome to my shared post with Ksenija for IndigoBlu.

I was kindly given an Eileen Hull Journal Blank by the fabulous Jenny Marples some time ago and have finally created this project. I must admit after seeing all the inspiration on the Eileen Hull Fan Club on Facebook I can see why creating these becomes addictive.

Now for my step by step on how I created this. Firstly I chose Aladdin (Metallic Purple) as my main colour with Burning BonfireTownhouse Teal and Lime Marmalade acrylic paints. With a bit of Orange and Purple Luscious mixed in too.

I used the Gelli Printing Plate to create the background from an A4 piece of card. Laying down colours separately with my brayer. I also punched paper circles and placed them directly onto the Gelli Plate to mask some of the colours.

I used various stencils including Bubbles and Dinkie Dots and the Collectors Edition Number 6 Circle Dots stamp to create the background. I added  Fine Modelling Paste through the Bubbles stencil for some texture.

I then cut the A4 background card into two pieces to fit the front and back of the journal and tore the edges so they blended into the main pages. The main journal was painted with Aladdin Metallic Purple and dry brushed on the inside covers with white Gesso.

I chose 'There is  always something new to discover' from the Dreams Come True stamp set as my main focal point on the front of the cover. This was stamped and embossed in Black onto Rice Paper. I then tore round the image to give a feathered edge so it would blend into the page. Both the background and Rice Paper were adhered with Slap It On Gloss. The front and back covers were stuck together with Super Thick Slap It On.

Detail of the main embossed image

I found Jenny Marples Step By Step Romantic Journal on the Frilly and Funkie Blog extremely informative when putting my journal together. Please take a look, I guarantee you'll be inspired!!
I used 2mm elastic cord and coloured this with the Aladdin metallic purple. The signatures for the journal inserts were put together from A4 card.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more inspiration using IndigoBlu products with you soon

IndigoBlu Flower Power

Morning All,

This is my inspiration piece for the International Design Teams shared post on the IndigoBlu Blog. Why not pop over and take a look at the rest of the teams inspirational projects.

Kay has produced some fantastic floral stamps and this Flower Power stamp is just ideal to decoupage. I started by stamping this three times with Stazon Spiced Chai. The main image is on a 123mmx190mm piece of white card.

I coloured the flowers with the fabulous Faber Castell Albrecht Durer Aquarelle pencils. Although I left the images that were going to be covered with the different layers as you can see below. The two images that create the decoupage layers were then fussy cut.

The sentiment was taken from the Victorian Garden stamp set and stamped with Spiced Chai.

The edges of the 134mmx210mm matt layer were coloured with the same colours as the main flowers and water added to create a watercoloured background. I then stamped the Circle Dots stamp in Spiced Chai randomly around the edges.

I layered the flowers and added red cotton within the layers. The beads were adhered with Slap It On Matte to the centre of the flowers. I drew black freehand lines to the edges of the white card

To finish the card I matt and layered this onto a black A5 card blank.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to sharing more inspiration with you soon.

Snow Snow Snow

Happy New Year to you all.

A great start to the year with a Top 3 with Indigoblu and also a Highlight with Mixed Media Card challenge for my Sparkle and Glisten card. So pleased to have been chosen by the fabulous Design Teams.

My next piece was created in my Junk Journal and this will be entered in the Indigoblu Snow Snow Snow challenge.

Created the background with Gesso, Luscious (blue), DecoArt Crackle Paste
Stamped and embossed the trees and sentiment from the IB Grand Tour III set.
Randomly stamped the snowflakes (BoBunny) with IB acrylic paint in Aladdin.

Die cut 5 snowflakes from Sizzix Snowflake #3 and painted with Aladdin mixed with DecoArt Tinting Base. Finished these off by adding Unicorn Sparkle.

Thank you for stopping by.
Happy Crafting
Hugs
